What Is Telehealth?
Telehealth involves the use of electronic communications and digital technology to provide healthcare services when you and your clinician are not in the same physical location.
Telehealth services may include:
- Real-time video visits
- Secure messaging (asynchronous care)
- Remote review of submitted information
- Electronic prescribing when appropriate
Telehealth may not be suitable for all medical conditions.
Asynchronous Care
Some services may occur through secure messaging or submission of information for later clinician review.
Please note:
- Response times may vary
- Asynchronous care is not appropriate for urgent or emergency conditions
- A clinician may determine that in-person evaluation is necessary
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate care.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
The Ozara platform may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist with:
- Organizing intake information
- Structuring documentation
- Supporting clinical workflow
AI tools do not independently diagnose, treat, or make medical decisions.
All medical decisions are made by licensed clinicians.
Potential Risks of Telehealth
As with any healthcare service, telehealth carries certain risks, including:
- Technical interruptions
- Delays in communication
- Incomplete transmission of information
- Privacy risks despite reasonable safeguards
While industry-standard security measures are used, no electronic system can guarantee absolute confidentiality.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Telehealth sessions are conducted through secure systems designed to protect patient information.
If you receive medical services, your health information is handled in accordance with HIPAA and applicable state law by the professional medical entity providing your care.
Patients are encouraged to participate in telehealth visits from a private location whenever possible.
Limitations of Telehealth
You should understand:
- A physical examination may be limited
- Certain conditions require in-person care
- A clinician may recommend in-person evaluation when medically necessary
Clinicians retain sole discretion in determining whether telehealth is appropriate.
Prescriptions
When clinically appropriate and permitted by law, prescriptions may be issued electronically.
Controlled substances may be prescribed only when allowed under applicable federal and state regulations.
Voluntary Participation
Participation in telehealth is voluntary.
Patients may decline telehealth services and request in-person care when available.
Formal Consent
Patients receiving telehealth services through Ozara provide formal acknowledgment and consent within the Ozara application prior to their first telehealth visit.
